Hello, my name is Heather LoNero, I am the founder and lead advocate for the Disability Defenders Group, LLC. I have spent my entire life dedicated and advocating for persons with disabilities. I have not only the degrees and certifications. I also spent a significant number of years working at the office that makes the disability decisions. Additionally, I, as many, have had personal experiences within my own life and family that make me very compassionate to your struggle.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from St. Leo University, St. Leo, Florida and earned a Masters in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Springfield College, Springfield, Mass. This May, I passed the National Certification through SSA to represent disability clients on my own. My expertise is vocational explanations and comparing ones’ functional consequences (impairments) to their vocational profile to reach the quickest and most favorable decisions for our clients.

I am an accredited disability representative for people thinking about or who are already in the process of applying for Social Security Disability Benefits (SSI/SSDI). I have over 16 years of experience in assisting individuals filing for Social Security benefits, at all levels. If needed I will attend a hearing with you in front of a Social Security judge. I will explain to them how your limitations limit your ability to work.

I know first-hand every day how difficult and anxiety provoking the process can be, not only on the person that is disabled and awaiting a decision, but also on your loved ones. I also understand the struggle and worry of being unable to work and worrying about a roof over you and your families head, food on the table and worrying about paying for basic living expenses. That’s not including the additional concern of paying for basic medical care and life-saving medications.
